Remo is an exceptionally talented jockey whose career has been derailed by severe addiction problems. He races under the control of a powerful mafia boss who holds him hostage and unleashes all the criminals of Buenos Aires to hunt him down when Remo becomes involved in an accident that results in the death of a valuable horse. Abril, Remo’s friend, is determined to find him before it’s too late.
Born in Buenos Aires in 1980, Luis Ortega is considered one of the most intriguing directors in contemporary Argentine cinema. He made his debut in 2002 with Caja negra, which he both wrote and directed. In 2018, he was featured in the Cannes Film Festival’s Un Certain Regard section with The Crime of the Angel, a film selected to represent Argentina in the Best Foreign Language Film category at the 2019 Oscars.
