(2024, Italy, 245')
The fruit of a project cultivated over twenty-five years, the series tells the life of Giacomo Leopardi in a new way, showing the poet in his modernity and vitality for the first time. The two episodes of which it is composed, both filmed in Recanati, follow the events of the protagonist from his adolescence to his death, rendering a complex and articulated image of him, far from the public’s expectations.
It is directed by Sergio Rubini, an Italian actor, director and screenwriter. Winner of a David di Donatello and a Nastro d’argento for La stazione (1991), his first work, he continues to act in successful films, including Una pura formalità (1994) by Giuseppe Tornatore and Il talento di Mr. Ripley (1999) by Anthony Minghella. For several years, he has been teaching film acting at the National Academy of Dramatic Art.
