Simon is a famous French director who is facing problem after problem as he is trying to finish his latest film: budget cuts, strikes, and the main protagonist – who Simon lives with – is giving him a hell of a time. Everything seems to push the filmmaker to just quit, but he soon finds unexpected help from Joseph, a young aspiring director who will film a making-of of Simon’s film, documenting the chaotic experience.
French filmmaker Cédric Kahn debut in Venice with Bar des rails, presented at the International Film Critics’ Week in 1993. In 1998, Kahn is again in Venice with L’Ennui, adapted from Italian author Alberto Moravia’s story La noia, starring Charles Berling and Arielle Dombasle. In 2001, Kahn directed and presented at Cannes Roberto Succo, the story of an Italian serial killer in the 1980s. His latest feature, Le Procès Goldman, passed at Cannes in 2023.
