with Seydou Sarr, Moustapha Fall

(2023, Italia, Belgio, 121')

Seydou and Moussa leave Dakar in Senegal to reach Europe, crossing the perils of the desert, the horrors of detention centers in Libya, and the dangers of the sea. Their journey represents a contemporary Odyssey, metaphorically reflecting the real-life stories of many African youths who undertake the same perilous path to follow their dream.

Matteo Garrone

Matteo Garrone debuted in Venice in 1998 with Guests, followed in 2000 by Roman Summer. In 2002, he won a David di Donatello with The Embalmer. In 2008, his Gomorra earned him the Jury Prize at Cannes, and the same in 2012 with Reality. In 2018, again at Cannes, he presented Dogman, which earned actor Marcello Fonte the Best Actor Award and Garrone an Oscar nomination. His Pinocchio of 2021 earned him two.
