French director Elise Girard authored a peculiar, ethereal ghost story about Japan, a country she loves, as she lifts the dark veil of mourning. Sidonie Perceval (played by a delightful Isabelle Huppert) is a successful French novelist who lost her husband. The man lives on in her memory, so much so that she can see his spirit. As she tours Japan to present her latest book, local publisher Kenzo Mizoguchi takes her to Kyoto, the city of temples. They travel together and marvel at tree blossoming. Sidonie slowly opens up to this mysterious man, but the ghost of her husband doesn’t seem to be going anywhere.
