Award-winning Malaysian director Chong Keat Aun defies silence with imagination and a very personal language. Snow in Midsummer tells the forgotten story of Ah Eng, who is visiting his hometown of Kuala Lumpur in 2018. Forty-nine years earlier, she and her mother had been rescued by a theatre company during riots after political elections. It was May 13, 1969. The riots had been quashed in a bloodshed. At the graveyard of the May 13 victims, the ghosts of a past tragedy come back into the present to revive a story that history seems to have glanced over.
