Romania, December 20, 1989. The country is on the brink of revolution, and while New Year’s Eve shows celebrate Ceaușescu, young people take to the streets to protest against the regime. Amid one of the most widely televised revolutions in history, the director focuses on that single moment in time that can shape the collective consciousness of an entire nation, approaching the subject through the microscopic lens of ordinary people.
After his first short film, Borders, director and producer Bogdan Mureşanu (Bucharest, 1974) made the feature films Tuns ras si frezat (2013) and Spid (2016). His breakthrough came with his third film, Cadoul de Crăciun (2018), which won numerous awards at various international festivals, including a special mention from the Jury at Montpellier, the Grand Prix at Clermont-Ferrand, a mention at Ljubljana, and the Jury Prize in Brussels.
