On the eve of separating from his partner, with whom he lives in Nancy, 49-year-old Léo learns of the death of the biological father he never knew. While waiting to travel to Italy to settle the inheritance, he returns to Paris for a few days, the city of his youth. Conversations with his activist daughter and encounters with figures from his past prompt him to reconsider his relationship with the world, and above all with women. In his fourth feature, Pariser observes a private crisis against the backdrop of an uncertain political present.
French director and screenwriter Nicolas Pariser (Paris, 1974) moves between comedy and thriller, placing power at the centre of stories populated by cultured, restless and often disoriented characters. After working for four years alongside the influential critic, producer and talent scout Pierre Rissient, he made his feature debut with The Great Game (2015), winner of the Louis-Delluc Prize for Best First Film. It was followed by Alice and the Mayor (2019) and The Green Perfume (2022), both presented at Cannes’ Directors’ Fortnight.
