(2025, France, 211')
A blast shakes Marseille. Amid the dust and rubble of a collapsed building, one survivor emerges: Malik El Djebena, a teenager of Comorian descent, whose stomach is filled with cocaine pellets. His arrest leads him to Baumettes, a harsh prison ruled by force. There, Malik, a frail teen, learns to navigate clans and threats, turning vulnerability into strategy. But his vision goes beyond survival: step by step, he becomes the leader of a new order, a prophet of street-born power.
With this series, Enrico Maria Artale reimagines Audiard’s cult film A Prophet into a coming-of-age tale of violence and vision, co-written with the original creators.
Director and screenwriter Enrico Maria Artale trained at the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia. He debuted with Il terzo tempo (2013), presented in Venice’s Orizzonti section and awarded the Pasinetti Prize for Best Debut.
