8. VENEZIA JAZZ FESTIVAL FALL EDITION

Art, electronics, and plenty of jazz for the eighth edition of the Venice Jazz Festival Fall Edition, scheduled from October to November in some of the city’s most prestigious venues: the Apollinee Rooms of the Teatro La Fenice, the Lo Squero Auditorium on the Island of San Giorgio Maggiore, the Teatrino of Palazzo Grassi, the Teatro Goldoni, the Candiani Auditorium in Mestre, and, for the first time, the Casa di The Human Safety Net at the Procuratie of Piazza San Marco. The festival, organized by Veneto Jazz, which is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year, brings a splash of color to Venetian autumn with an original mix of authorial music, Brazilian and ethnic sounds, new Italian and international jazz experiments, opening on October 10 with a concert by Raphael Gualazzi at the Goldoni Theater. “Venezia Jazz Festival Fall Edition is more and more a poetic game of mirrors,” explains Giuseppe Mormile, artistic director, “with many influences, some discoveries, and major confirmations for a lineup that spans the various facets of jazz and contemporary music. There are two openings to other languages: photography, with Pino Ninfa’s India and the multimedia project dedicated to Baroness Pannonica, and electronic music linked to imagery, with Formentini’s sound realism. For the rest, the program speaks the language of world music, with that freedom of research and connection that Veneto Jazz has always nurtured over these wonderful, challenging, and sometimes adventurous forty years through intelligent fusions.”
