Alice Maher’s work spans sculpture, drawing, painting, installation and film, addressing themes such as childhood, the female body, memory and myth. She often uses unconventional materials – hair, berries, insects – in dialogue with the medieval art tradition and Irish folklore. In her recent work The Sybils, she focuses on a series of charcoal drawings depicting masses of hair and convoluted shapes, evoking the uncertainty of contemporary culture and society
