ANITA MAGSAYSAY-HO

1914, Zambales, Philippines
2012, Manila, Philippines

Anita Magsaysay-Ho’s approach to painting was predominantly abstract and linked to post-Cubism and Social Realism. Her paintings engage with her childhood and to the female figures that filled it, who we find engaged in acts typical of domestic or rural everyday life, and release through the tempera all the strength and dignity the artist intends to convey. She was the only female member of the Philippine art group called Thirteen Moderns.
