“Totally naive” – with these words the artist affirms and validates her art and her choices: to come to painting later in life, to maintain that only art is the right tool to process that point of contact between universal history and particular stories. Legends passed on from grandmother to granddaughter, old stories of ships carrying enslaved African people shipwrecked on the Pacific coast of Mexico, the contacts between Native Mexicans and the Spanish… Only art can show and understand.
