A cultural and literary critic as well as a visual artist, she explores the simultaneity of temporalities and versions of modernity, particularly as regards post-war memory and loss and immigration. Having emigrated to the United States from El Salvador, she maintains a balanced perspective between the two countries, and her work investigates the historical and contemporary routes of cultural, commercial, and human exchange in the Americas, focusing primarily on sculpture.
