A member of the Serpent River First Nation (Anishinaabe/Ojibwe), Bonnie Devine expresses her civic engagement through writing, teaching, curating and a multifaceted and multidisciplinary artistic practice. Her approach focuses on the narrative, cultural and visual traditions of Anishinaabe society, addressing themes of territory, memory and indigenous sovereignty, and her work reinterprets colonial history from the perspective of indigenous peoples.
