Having grown up between Morocco and France, where she studied at the Sorbonne, and working in the medium of film, photography, prints and installations, Bouchra Khalili has always focused on the possibility of giving voice to minorities subjected to political, social and geographical pressures. Her documentaries are born out of a rigorous practice, and before they come into contact with the public she personally collects a vast amount of material to allow her work to represent a platform through which minorities can actually make their voices heard.
