Through a variety of mediums, ranging from photography to performance to video art, Charmaine Poh creates new spaces for narratives normally relegated to the margins. The performativity of everyday life, the gendered body, virtual identities, and sweetness as a tool of resistance and repair/reparation are the axis around which Poh’s work revolves. Among Asia’s most influential young artists, she is the founder of the Almost June studio, co-founder of the digital magazine Jom and a member of the Asian Feminist Studio for Art and Research (AFSAR). In 2021 she represented Singapore at the Venice Architecture Biennale.
