Nigerian artist, designer and architect. Of noble origins, son of Obi (King) Nwoko II, he grew up in Idumuje Ugboko and was educated at the Nigerian College of Arts, Science and Technology in Zaria, where he was one of the leading founding members of the Zaria Art Society. In 1961 he was awarded a scholarship to the Center Français du Théâtre in Paris, where he studied theatre architecture and scenography. After returning to Nigeria, he taught at the newly formed Acting School at the University of Ibadan. In 1970, for his first assignment, he designed the Dominican Institute of Ibadan, where he also founded the New Culture Studios. Winner of the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement at the Architecture Biennale 2023.
