ELAINE CAMERON-WEIR

BORN 1985, Red Deer, Canada
LIVES&WORKS New York, USA

Working with the assembly technique, using both organic and artificial contrasting materials, the artist proposes recycled objects from the military and scientific industries to realize larger experimental installations, in which she introduces ephemeral elements such as open flames, olfactory components, temperature variations, as well as unaltered natural objects such as giant clam shells. Through her work Cameron-Weir investigates the issues of individual and collective human survival, unveiling the potential for renewal and transformation of states of being and forms of knowledge.
