Known for her skilful use of pre-Columbian motifs in fabrics, Elena Izcue Cobian was fought over by European and American fashion houses. Made with silk and wool using artisanal printing, her fabrics became highly sought after and were ac- quired by the prestigious House of Worth in Paris. She would later found the Taller Nacional de Artes Gráficas Aplicadas, focusing on the traditional production of straw fabrics in northern Peru. As an educator, illustrator, graphic artist, and designer, Cobian played an integral role in the dissemination of pre-Columbian art in the early 20th century.
