Philosopher and author Etel Adnan was an art philosophy scholar. Throughout her academic career, she dedicated to art as a way to accompany her theoretical work, and only later in life was her artistic originality recognized for its own merits. An interesting balance between abstraction and figuration blurs the edges between the material support of art and its construction layer. In her art, we find her passion and admiration for Vincent van Gogh and for the colours of California, who Adnan considers her adoptive homeland.
