During his artistic career, Faik Hassan was influenced by various European movements including Cubism, Expressionism and Impressionism, as well as by Islamic art and Iraqi textile art. In his youth he practiced painting en plein air and then in maturity moved on to abstract art. Always poised between East and West, he created his own modern approach, integrating the two traditions with his own style. The main motifs of his work are the nomadic life of the Bedouins, the colors of the desert and veiled women.
