FILIPPO DE PISIS

1896, Ferrara, Italy
1956, Milan, Italy

A painter, writer and poet, he was involved in various artistic movements of the early 20th century, developing a highly personal style which combined the immobile, timeless spatiality of Metaphysics with a taste for the urgent brushwork of the Impressionists; a powerfully evocative dry and spartan style with a Fauvist palette. The most frequent recurring themes in his work were still lifes, landscapes and male nudes.
