FRIDA KAHLO

1907, Mexico City, Mexico
1954, Mexico City, Mexico

One of the most iconic figures of the 20th century, she saw artistic practice as all-encompassing and made no distinction between art, life and political commitment. In her paintings she depicted scenes from her existential experience, showing tragic personal events and moments of epochal transformations for her country. She utilized a highly personal visual language that fused surreal and naïve elements to demonstrate the complexities of tangible and unconscious realities.
