FULVIO PENNACCHI

1905, Villa Collemandina, Italy
1992, São Paulo, Brazil

Architect, painter, ceramist, poet, designer, tiler and engraver Fulvio Pennacchi is considered above all the greatest fresco painter in Brazil. A leading artist of the historic Grupo Santa Helena, he combined the sources of the greatest art of the Italian primitive past – Cimabue, Giotto, Masaccio – with controlled infusions of modern plasticity. His work includes the “church of the Italian immigrants” in Nossa Senhora da Paz, where he was responsible for both the architectural design and much of the decoration, frescoes and furnishings. The Fulvio Pennacchi House Museum of Jardim Europa is a fitting synthesis of the poetic sensitivity and multiple talents of this eclectic artist.
