His name is closely linked to the Biennale, for which he created some of his most famous decorative cycles, such as the Room of the Dream, the first international room set up in 1907, in which he painted the frieze depicting the Biennale’s history. His art took in aspects of Art Nouveau and Symbolism and is characterized by extreme and detailed decorativeism and the refined exuberance of the ornamental motifs which he ably blended in his multifaceted work.
