Guadalupe Maravilla’s multidisciplinary practice blends sculpture, performance, painting and shamanic healing rituals. Her research is deeply rooted in autobiographical experiences, and particularly in two traumas: that of undocumented migration and that of illness. Emblematic of this are her Disease Throwers, totemic sculptures composed of recycled materials collected along migration routes, and her gongs, used in performances to create sound environments oriented towards purification from physical and psychological traumas.
