Influenced by the murals of Diego Rivera and inspired by the Italian social realist painters seen at the 1952 Biennale, he found his own descriptive style that clearly reflected his social commitment, far from the dreamlike escapism of surrealism, giving visibility to the lived condition of the most disadvantaged groups of Egyptian people: workers, fishermen, farmers and the unemployed.
