Joyce Joumaa grew up in Lebanon, and studies directing and filmography in Montreal. A recognized talent as a video artist and political activist, she uses her videos to highlight the fight against the colonization of Lebanon and colonial influences in the education of the younger generations. Her intent is to foreground stories that have their roots in political tension, though not in an overly explicit manner, highlighting their poetic and metaphorical style, and investigating the past in order to give new meaning to the present.
