Julia Isídrez comes from a family of ceramists and learned her practice from her mother Juana Marta Rodas. In Para- guay the art of ceramics is predominantly practiced by women,a legacy of the very strong and still vibrant pre-colonial tradition. Isídrez, whose work has always been informed by very close collaboration with her mother, has received numerous important international awards over the years. Her style is distinguished by the integration of rural ceramic tradition with exotic Jesuit and contemporary techniques.
