KAARI UPSON

1970, San Bernardino, USA
2021, New York, USA

American artist Kaari Upson worked with a large array of media, including sculpture, video, drawing, and painting. In her work, she mixed autobiographical traumas, fears, and fantasies, and brought to life what may be called ‘Americanness’ or ‘American psyche’. Her ability in evoking vile, infamous images targets the psychological comfort zone of the viewer and connects it with visceral, touching simulations of states of loss and instability.
