Born in Buenos Aires to Japanese parents, K. Sakai, after attending university in Tokyo and graduating in Philosophy and Literature, came back to Argentina in the 50’s. Here thanks to his painting skills he gained recognition among the country’s leading abstract gestural painters alongside artists such as Miguel Ocampo. In his works Western elements blend with Eastern elements in particular with Zen philosophy and Japanese calligraphy. In his works he makes use of abstract expressionism techniques as well as of a great variety of materials.
