KERSTIN BRÄTSCH

BORN 1979, Hamburg, Germany
LIVES&WORKS New York, USA and Berlin, Germany

Known for her colorful and large-scale compositions, Kerstin Brätsch makes use of oil paints and a number of other materials to investigate the nature of painting in the digital age. With her characteristic paintings, installations and performances, this German artist explores the themes of collaboration and circulation, and the role that chance plays in the creation of images. Brätsch often works together with other artists, craftsmen, psychics, and shamans, often turning his paintings into glass or marbled works, while experimenting various materials and art forms placed in new contexts.
