A Franco-Vietnamese painter known above all for his representations of nudes, gardens and floral still lifes, Phô studied first in Hanoi and then in Paris with Victor François Tardieu. In his work we witness a fusion of Impressionism, Surrealism and traditional Chinese painting which offers up a sensual but disconcerting vision of Eden evoking Odilon Redon and Pierre Bonnard, his principal artistic references, together with Matisse. His long career was divided into three distinct phases in which we can observe the evolution of his practice and his extreme versatility.
