An artist committed to political truth, Lee employed naïve realism of Latin-America tradition and Socialist Realism to build his style on top of Western-sourced formation practices like oil painting and anatomy and pose study. The art movement he was an integral part of has been synthetically described as “Vernacular Modernism”, in particular, Lee belonged to the pro-political current.
