LIM MU HUE

1936, Singapore
2008, Singapore

Woodcuts, oil and ink were the preferred means of expression of this Singaporean artist, whose figurative style is made recognisable by its close attention to detail. His attention was always drawn, among other things, to local scenes, rural landscapes and puppet shows – all things that disappeared after the modernisation of Singapore but which his art brought back to life through a realistic figurative style made up of vivid memories, with elegant and refined colours. For many years he combined his artistic activity with teaching.
