LINDA KOHEN

BORN 1924, Milan, Italy
LIVES&WORKS Montevideo, Uruguay

After being forced to leave Italy in 1939 by the racial laws, she moved to South America, where she studied art. In her work she explores the themes of life and death and the mystery of existence. Her fundamental theme is the solitude and contemplation of the human being, represented in an often disturbing way through the use of a sober palette of few non-saturated colors in the scale of whites and grays. Her paintings encourage us to reflect on the transience of existence and its inevitable end.
