LUCIA DI LUCIANO

BORN 1933, Syracuse, Italy
LIVES&WORKS Formello, Italy

A protagonist of neo-Avantgardes of kinetic and programmatic art in the early Sixties, Di Luciano founded Gruppo 63 (in 1963) with Lia Drei, Francesco Guerrieri, and Giovanni Pizzo. In the following year, she became one of the founders of Operativo R with Carlo Cerchietti, Franco Di Vito, and Giovanni Pizzo. Lucia Di Luciano’s language shows logical and mathematical rigour in its investigation of visual perception, amplifying the Cartesian dimensions of pictorial space onto the categories of time. Combinatory series, rhythmical structure, kinetic sequences, and geometrical modules respond to compositions in either black and white or full colour.
