Maria Taniguchi’s work includes sculpture, painting, drawing, silkscreen, video and photography. Interested in exploring concepts of space and time, in 2008 she began a series of works on large canvases covered in a meticulous arrangement of hand-painted bricks. She defined these labor-intensive and creative-process works as the fundamental root of her artistic practice, which explores the systems and structures of art-making and the materiality and architecture of painting itself.
