MARINA APOLLONIO

BORN 1940, Trieste, Italy
LIVES&WORKS Padua, Italy

One of the most important representatives of the international optical/kinetic movement, Apollonio attended painting classes by Giuseppe Santomaso at the Venice Fine Arts Academy to later work on graphic design and interior architecture. Together with other exponents of the Optical Art trend, she adheres to the concept of depersonalized art, countering the idea of expressional abstraction. The artist used modern industrial materials to create structures that, in the viewer’s eye, become dynamic, fluctuating spaces.
