Miguel Alandia Pantoja’s work is often imbued with patriotism and celebrates the working classes, particularly Bolivia’s indigenous miners and peasants. His work incorporates social criticism and new artistic and political influences. Unfortunately, several of his murals, such as 1953’s History of the Mine in the Palace of Government and History of the Bolivian Parliament from 1961 in the Legislative Palace in La Paz, were destroyed by the Bolivian military government.
