MIRELLA BENTIVOGLIO

BORN
LIVES&WORKS
1922, Klagenfurt, Austria
2017, Rome, Italy

In collaboration with ANNALISA ALLOATTI (1926-2000, Turin, Italy). Starting in the 1960s, Mirella Bentivoglio developed her research around the verbal/visual expression: Concrete Poetry (the letter-and-words configuration) and Visual Poetry (the images-and-words configurations). Under a frame of mind inspired by sharing and confrontation, she involved several artists in the creation of art and produced many collective exhibitions. One of her first co-creations was one with Annalisa Alloatti, whom she worked with in Stora del monumento of 1968 and 8 situazioni 1 parola of 1971, visualising potential slippage in the linguistic codes following the fragmentation and letter substitution in words.
