Founder of the Union nationale des arts plastiques and an established artist and teacher in all fields of visual arts, Issiakhem has inspired entire generations of artists, cinematographic and literary works. Famous for his self-portraits and portraits which inhabit the border between figurative and abstract art, the artist nicknamed “lynx eye” by his lifelong friend, writer, poet and playwright Kateb Yacine, carries within him and within his work the torments of war and of colonization, which he never stopped investigating in his atypical style, characterized by a palette rooted in the earth and suffering.
