Natalia Lassalle-Morillo’s performances and videos intertwine theatrical techniques, experimental cinema and installation, often focusing on collaboration with non-professional performers. In the case of her Biennale project, the artist is working with her mother, “with whom,” as she says, “she has collaborated since birth”. The result is a dialogue that explores the collective memory of the Caribbean and the way in which the daily experience of imperialist oppression has shaped relational and family structures through a visceral confrontation between two women, utilising the intimacy of the spoken word.
