Using a range of media such as digital performances, videos and installations, Nazira Karimi’s work mainly speaks about female identity, its iconography and the stereotypes of the female body represented throughout the history of art and in contemporary culture. She places parts of her own body at the centre of her practice, mixing them with animation and music, and explores themes such as memory, identity and the environment, paying close attention to the impact of colonization in Central Asia.
