OTOBONG NKANGA

Otobong Nkanga explores the social and topographical transformations of places, focusing on processes of the extraction, circulation and consumption of resources. Drawing, textile creation, performance and sculpture allow her to follow the paths of matter – from land to commerce, from landscape to body – making visible the wounds that connect distant territories. Her work shows how minerals, soil and vegetation are always intertwined with histories of labour, violence and dependence.
