One of the major exponents of hurufiyya – the artistic integration of Arabic calligraphy and modern art – al-Nasiri has been an innovator and a link between the art cultures and histories of the Arab world, China, and Western Europe. He taught in Amman, in Bahrain, and in Baghdad, where he founded the department of graphic art at the local fine arts academy. His work, which includes art books, are at one original artistic productions as well as candid denounce of the dire state of Iraq after decades of violence and war.
