RANTI BAM

Working mainly with clay, a primordial material, Ranti Bam layers thin slabs of clay to create pots often supported by animal legs, placed on wooden stools known as akpoti, typical of the Nigerian tradition. The surfaces, which retain evident traces of the creative process, are sometimes decorated with abstract motifs. In some cases the artist pierces and tears them open to reveal the inside of the pot, inviting the visitors to draw closer and pause to reflect on vulnerability and resilience.
