Romany Eveleigh’s work is distinguished by a vocabulary based on borrowings from writing and graphics, and rooted in a minimalist aesthetic. Her paintings, drawings and collages, often created in series or on a large scale, explore the human journey towards understanding, placing painting in a philosophical and contemplative dimension to challenge the purest perception, before thought is formed. Wife of the photojournalist Anna Baldazzi, she joined the radical feminist movement led by lesbian activist Michèle Causse, who became her most important supporter.
