Salman Toor’s sumptuous and insightful paintings portray intimate, everyday moments in the lives of fictional young queer brown men embedded in contemporary cosmopolitan culture, oscillating between the heartening and the heartbreaking, the seductive and the poignant, and the inviting and the disturbing. In his work, which can be found in important collections, the artist investigates the vulnerability of contemporary public and private life and the notion of community in the context of queer and diasporic identity.
